Welcome to the USS Cheron

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. - Mark Twain

August 2008 Bronze Unit of Merit Awardee!
Our first month!

February 2009 Silver Unit of Merit Awardee!
Our sixth month!

The year is 2386. A decade has past since the Dominion ravaged our Quadrant, decimated our numbers and left us bleeding; broken yet ever determined. In that time, the Federation has continued its pledge to be a bastion of peace and exploration and, in an effort to rebuild, has set forth to strengthen its ties not only within its membership but further afield, to those who may one day join us in ensuring that freedom remains the right of those who seek it.

These are the stories of the USS Cheron, a New Orleans-class frigate charged with the ongoing mission to seek out old and new acquaintences, extending to them the hand of cooperation in all matters scientific, diplomatic and, where necessary, defense. We are the living proof that even those holding the big guns can have a gentle touch and we will never forget that, in our capacity of ambassadors, not only for our own people but for a set of principles and ideals that promote peace instead of war, cooperation rather than conflict, and invention, ingenuity and imagination beyond all else, we represent those who came before us and lay the groundwork for those to follow. We are soldiers, but we are also pioneers, adventurers, scholars and scientists; we are StarFleet.

Welcome aboard! The USS Cheron is an Obsidian Fleet PG15+ play-by-SMS simm of Task Force 47a's Musketeer Task Group, always searching for new ideas and fresh enthusiasm. Please browse the site at your leisure and feel free to direct any comments, queries or concerns to Commander Natalie Johanssen, CO. Enjoy!

Another Sad Goodbye

Please join me in wishing Chris, aka Counsellor Kyle Thomas, all the very best as he scales back his simming committments and bids us adieu. It has been an absolute pleasure having him on board as his portrayal of Kyle has been perhaps the most enjoyable interpretation of the Counsellor role that I've ever read. It's a tricky position to get right and still be interesting and I think Chris nailed it. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Though it makes me particularly sad to farewell a third member, please rest assured that the simm is still healthy and moving forward. It isn't unusual for one resignation to prompt others sitting on the fence to make a decision and that seems to be what has happened here. If you have any concerns or know of people who might like to join us, since we now have a number of interesting roles available, please feel free to contact me.

Cheers,
Karen

Please join me in welcoming on board Ensign Sonjia Yomoro who is joining us as our Damage Control Specialise in Engineering. I'm sure you'll all agree that we're desperately in need of one after the last few missions, so I hope you'll all join me in helping her get settled. She's new to SMS so be kind but I'm sure she'd be happy for at least a couple of you to start shoreleave JPs with her.

Cheers,
Karen

Just to let you all know that discussion for next mission, now being run by yours truly, has been opened over on the forums. Go here to have your say before things get set in stone!

Cheers,

Please also join me in bidding a sad farewell to Lt. Adam Reynard as he disappears into real life and wisely focuses his remaining time on running his own ship, the USS Edison. I have appreciated his contributions over the past 10 months and wish him well in his future endeavours. Anyone wishing to still write with him could consider as position aboard his ship as it will also give them an opportunity to continue to write with Jen, who XOs for him. Two birds with one stone, so to speak!

The same deal goes with JPs with Reynard as did with any with Tennant. I will mention their reassignments in posts at the beginning of next mission but, for now, if you have any with Adam, just post them as is, delete them or find a way to turn them into JPs with other people.

Cheers,
Karen
Crew Resignation

Please join me in farewelling Jen, otherwise known as Aurelia or Marcus or Kara, as she departs the simm after ten months of solid contribution. During that time, Jen has been a driving force and has provided wonderful momentum and inspiration to each and every person she has written with. She will be missed but we send her off with a smile and our very best wishes, confident that she will continue to find ways to share her creativity and talent. I would personally like to thank her for her hard work and dedication since August. Cheron won't be the same without her.

Those of you who have posts with her have one of three choices. You can finish them and post them as snippets of her last moments aboard the ship, you can delete them, or you can pass them over to someone else by introducing their character and writing Jen's out of the JP. The choice is up to each individual, I don't mind what you do.

In regards to Jen's mission, rest assured that whilst I will not be running that particular mission, I will run something along the same lines. The general premise was an idea I came up with last year so I guess it's about time I just wrote it up myself. Heh.

If any of you have concerns of queries about potential repercussions of Jen's resignation, be it current JPs unfinished or subplots now rendered impossible, let myself or Brian know. We're here to make that transition as easy as possible for all of you.

Cheers,
Karen

Hi folks!

Yep, I'm still alive. Just ended up with work towards the end of the week and then the WHOLE rest of the family, including the baby, got sick for a couple of days. That was enjoyable. This weekend should be catch-up time for me though so thank you to those patiently waiting for tags.

Please welcome aboard Barac Storm, our new fighter pilot! Please make him feel welcome and contact him for JPs etc because I haven't had nearly enough time to dedicate to him since he joined earlier in the week. We're happy to have you, Barac! I swear I'm usually around a little bit more than this...

Shoreleave is going fine. Remember, it ends at the end of the first week in July so get those posts out. (I know, I know, a heap of you are waiting for me. I'm sorry!)
